Mixed Spices Recipe

on Friday, December 16, 2011

Arabic Cuisine and particularly Middle Eastern cuisine use a particular spice mix that we refer to as mixed spices or seven spices.

To prepare 250 grams of mixed spices used in Arabic and Middle Eastern food, at home you will need:

50    grams allspice
25    grams black pepper
10    grams cloves
35    grams cinnamon
15    grams nutmeg (4 nutmeg seeds)
15    grams cardamon
4      grams Arabic Gum (also known as Meska or Acacia Gum)

Preparation time: 5 min

Ground all these together in a spice/coffee grinder machine and store in airtight glass container.

P.S: If you do not have Arabic Gum, you can still prepare the seasoning without it.

Thank you so much for the mixed spices proportions for us who live abroad and cannot buy the ready-made 7 spices mixture from a store. I have used garam masala sometimes to substitute.
